Homosexuality and bisexuality are not considered psychological or psychiatric disorders. Therapists who are informed about dealing with intrapsychic and societal issues encountered by lesbian, gay, and bisexual clients will be better able to help such clients cope with common issues such as internalized homophobia, decisions about “coming out,?and the effects of stigmatization on emotional wellbeing.
